Why You Should Prioritize Sunset Photos on your Wedding Day!

One thing that often does not get prioritized are the sunset photos. We always recommend getting sunset photos on your wedding day. The lighting will be the best during this time, and it is the perfect time after the ceremony to have some privacy and breather room. Generally we have seen that couples love having sunset portraits and they are often the most favorited photos from the whole gallery!

For timelines that prioritze sunset photography, we recommend an afternoon ceremony and reception around dinner time.

How should we plan a wedding to include sunset portraits session?

Timing is super important for sunset weddings! We as photographers always double check the time of sunset on your wedding day.

The best time for sunset is 20 minutes before the sun actually sets. We can get sunset photos done in 10-15 min, but always recommend trying to set at least 20-30 min aside to get as many photos as possible during this limited time.

Summer and Fall Weddings?

For summer and fall weddings, sunset normally falls during the reception period. Since speech times are usually pretty flexible, we recommend working around the speeches to having a 20-30 minute gap during the receptions. This way we can steal you away for some sunset portraits!

Winter and Spring Weddings?

For winter and spring weddings, sunset normally falls under cocktail hour. This is normally a good time to escape for 20-30 minutes while your guests are being social with each other, and do guest photos during reception.
