Why You Should Allocate Time For Getting Ready Photos
Every wedding story has a start and finish. With so many moments to capture on a wedding day, getting ready photos are often overlooked and skipped. Not only is getting ready a great time to start your story, but is one of the most important moments, and our favourite to capture!
Getting ready is when the bride and groom prepare for the big day ahead of them. There is a lot to do, like getting your makeup done and your dress on. But to us, getting ready is not just a moment for preparation. It’s a moment of clarity and reflection, full of laughter and tears of joy. A wedding story really does not feel complete without getting ready photos.
Warm Up
On such a big day, there is bound to be some pre-wedding jitters, especially with your photographer. Having getting ready photos lets you warm up to the fact that they’ll be with you throughout the whole day, especially if you didn’t have an engagement session and its your first time with your photographer. We also know that the rest of your wedding day will feel like a blur, so doing photos during this time will give you time to breathe and actually spend time with the people that you love.
Small Details & Big Moments
Not only do you get captured during the getting ready, but so do your details! This can include things like the dress, tie, shoes, cufflinks, rings, and any other small goodies that have big meanings to you. On the other hand, getting ready is where some of the most important moments happen. You’ll be surrounded by your loved ones, each of them helping with an important aspect of your preparation. We love the gasps and screams of excitement when your bridesmaids see you all dressed up, and the tears when you do your father-daughter first look. There’s so many moments and emotions that happen during this time, and by having photos during this time, you’ll make sure all of these memories are preserved forever.
Perfection
Getting ready is when you get your makeup done, and you first put on your dress. Taking photos during this time ensures that everything is set up perfectly and you look at your best. Your hair is freshly curled, your dress is perfectly steamed, your makeup is pristine. We will often times arrive before you even put on your dress, to make sure we can get detail photos of all your items before they are put on.
Story
As you know, we’re big storytellers. And a wedding story without a beginning always feels incomplete. By having these getting ready photos, it allows us to tell your complete story, which we know you’ll be thankful for later on. It also allows you to show a complete story to friends or family who couldn’t make it on your wedding day, but still allow them to experience what your wedding day was like through the photos.
